This nearby house used to be a storage barn for a recreational vehicle. Then it was just general storage, plus a meeting place for the local home owner’s association. But the owners downsized, selling their house and turning the barn into what is known in this area as a “barndominium”.
That's a new word "Barndominium" I wonder if it will make it into the dictionary?
ReplyDeleteA Facebook friend in Essex, UK told me they are called barn conversions there. Some are a bit ugly (like this one, in my opinion) and some are wonderful in how they fit into their surroundings.
DeleteBill would love to build one that looks like a classic shaped barn, with a home on one side and his wood shop on the other . . . if only we had the money to buy land. We’d both love to get away from the idiots running the home owners association here.
It's a lovely way to show us your neighbourhood and very inspiring too .
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debora! I may do a few more of these . . . After all, they are what I see everyday, I don’t have to go far looking for something to draw!
