a Fredericksburg longhorn

One final sketch from our recent travels: we ended up by stayed at an RV park near Fredericksburg where three ginormous longhorns lived. This one was the prettiest of the three — but her left horn was heavier than the right, causing her to keep her head tilted. I wonder if it causes her a headache (or neck-ache) to carry such massive horns. It sure got in the way of scratching that itch!

Texas longhorns and their donkeys

Something we have noticed since moving to central Texas is that wherever there are longhorns, donkeys can usually be found. Eventually I learned that donkeys will fiercely fight off attacking coyotes. In fact, coyotes will avoid herds if there's a donkey.

While driving to Brenham, we always enjoy looking at the gorgeous Texas Longhorns raised around here. Awesome beasts!

This past weekend Bill saw one sitting in the pasture like a dog --- such a funny sight! So I drew one in a similar position later.

waiting for paint to dry . . .

I woke up this morning realizing that my brother's birthday is only 2 days away. Arggh!

I always paint a card for him. So this morning I grabbed a recent photo I had taken of a cow down the road from us and began. Paint sure dries slow when I need to hurry.

But eventually I did finish the card and it is in the mail. (I don't think he even knows I have a blog, so I know he won't be seeing this.)
