I was adding a bit of paint to Wednesday's sketch . . . and promptly smeared the bit of red paint on the paper cup. Had forgotten it as I was working on the logo text on the far right. Oops!
Sometimes I try to replicate company logos and lettering for the discipline. This is also a favorite stop for us when in Brenham --- creative sandwiches, soups, quiche, and salads! Oh, and also homemade pie. This time we both had something they call sawdust pie. Fitting for Bill as he works on a shelving unit in his wood shop.
So what IS sawdust pie?? What a wonderful sketch, and oh yes I managed to get my hand in my ink three times last night... :(
ReplyDeleteThis is someone's post of the version from Must Be Heaven (lots of recipes online) but ours this week was a bit different --- depends on who's making it that day I guess. Ours had banana underneath the rest of it. And this time it wasn't as good as one we tried a few months ago.

pecans, coconut, eggs, banana, sugar . . .
ReplyDeleteOh . . . and crushed graham cracker "sawdust".
ReplyDeleteI copy company logos, too, when I find their font selection and layout eye catching. I can see why you liked this one, too. That style of salt shaker is absolutely timeless. Great journal entry.
ReplyDeleteI would love to sketch their logo painted on the outside side of their building but it's a bit daunting for me. It includes Bluebell Ice Cream's logo and story, as well as other Brenham icons.
