a persistent wildflower

This single blanket flower has been blooming a long time in the surface of a side road in Somerville, right next to where we usually park when we go to church. Temperatures have been as high as 100°, rain has been scarce lately, and yet the flower continues.

  2. Vicky, I have been thinking about painting blanket flowers on and off for about a year now. You have inspired me with this sketch. Next week, I may just start a painting of these beauties!

    1. I only wish I had been using my normal Hansa yellow medium instead of Marc’s Naples yellow for the tips. They are brighter than this!
But again, maybe part of my challenge is to stop insisting on matching colors exactly?

  3. I would say the main thing about the challenge is to enjoy the journey!

    1. LOL, I once sketched my jar full of fountain pens and added the text “It’s about the journey, not the destination.” This is now the lock-screen wallpaper on my iPad Mini and I see it before me daily. Maybe I should remember it!
