I don't think I have ever tasted a fig (other than fig newtons) -- I've never seen fresh figs for sale around here. I received a newsletter in the mail that had a photo of them and I had to paint them.

i adore figs - the plant, the leaf, the fruit - gorgeous in every way!
ReplyDeletestunning sketch - thanks for sharing :)
This is really pretty. I love the colors in your figs. I was like you and hadn't ever tasted the 'real thing' until last year when I got figs to make fig bread. Very labor intensive to prepare but very tasty too.
ReplyDeleteThank you both, Claire and Ann. Now I REALLY want to taste one!
ReplyDeleteWay back when (I was a young child), my family lived next door to a man who had a fig tree, every year he shared the delicious fruit with us; nothing quite like a ripe fig freshly picked from the tree .... yum!
ReplyDeleteSounds yummy! I'm going to look for them this spring -- have to try one!
ReplyDeleteThey are as delicious as your sketch!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Barbara! I'm looking forward to trying one when I find it.
