Indian paintbrush

Texas bluebonnets get most of the attention every springtime, but I also love the Indian paintbrush that grows alongside. In bright warm red, peach, or sometimes yellow — their cheerful color lasts much longer than the bluebonnets.

  1. I didn’t know if you were aware that Indian paintbrush changes it’s color depending the altitude.

    1. No, I didn't know that! I found some pale yellow ones this spring as well as a gorgeous peach color. I need to learn more about these wildflowers growing around me -- maybe visit Lady Bird Johnson's center in Austin someday.
