and a few more EDM's
The next Everyday Matters challenge prompts . . . I think I'll leave the rest of the list for later. I find these are good to go through when I've skipped daily drawing for several days, just to get back into it. Sketching or painting is like most other activities: the more often and regularly you do it, the easier (and better) the skill becomes. Stop for a period of time, lines become a bit wonky and perspective gets crazy.
The tree above was over the center of our campsite during a recent trip to our lake (now closed again due to flooding). I took a photo of it as I was sitting under it. There was actually less leafing and more sky showing through but I got carried away. Wish I hadn't of!
This folding camp stool is what I used to carry on sketch crawls, with it's pockets to hold supplies and an easy carry strap. Now it stays in my "studio" at my art table. Maybe I'll sketch the studio space next.

Hi Vicky, Could you please give me some info on your folding chair e.g. brand name, is it available on Amazon or ebay, ...? It has a back rest which I want in a portable stool/chair for sketching out and about with my sketch buddy.
ReplyDeleteMine is similar to this one:

Thank you Vicky. It looks sturdy.
ReplyDeleteMuch sturdier than what a lot of urban sketchers are using out there! Yet easy to carry with a shoulder strap.
ReplyDeleteMany I've looked at did not seem as sturdy as yours does. It was immediately obvious. I'm definitely going to order one. Thanks again Vicky.
DeleteIf I may add... I just bought a stool called Roll-a-Chair from:

It was recommended by Brenda Swenson. I love it. I got the one with the back, and it's very comfortable--no bar to cut into the back of my thighs. It folds up neatly into a carrying case.
I must have missed Brenda recommending that one. Sounds great!
DeleteIt's been awhile since she recommended her stool--in a blog post way back in 2012 and in her Sketchbook Skool Q&A a couple years ago. I only recently got around to buying one.
DeleteHi Vicky, your HUGE tree is awsome!!!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteIts enormous appearance is why I happened to take the random photo as I was sitting underneath it. I love old trees!
DeleteI love the perspective on your tree. I can just feel it towering over me.
ReplyDeleteThat's the feeling I was hoping to capture!
