Texas wildflowers

They're back! Springtime wildflowers are popping up all around us --- All of these are growing within a quarter-mile radius of our home except for the blanket flower which I found in Rockport. And this is just the beginning . . .

  5. Now THAT'S color! Great botanical. Some of Wilma's are popping up now and I want to get out to sketch them but haven't made it yet. Thanks for the reminder.

  6. Each of these are blooming in the wild around us, all native wildflowers except the bastard cabbage. Some Texans are concerned that it may eventually crowd out the native flowers. The countryside fills with great swaths of these flowers every spring for 6 to 8 weeks, followed by less showy summer wildflowers.
