Wichita Spine Hospital

Yesterday Bill had a repeat procedure at the spine hospital, to ease severe back pain. Both the doctor and the nurses agree that this will only provide short-term relief --- the effects of the first one lasted just a bit over one month. Unfortunately, our insurance company will not pay for the correct procedure that they are sure will provide long-term relief until he has undergone this particular type of injection twice. Stupid insurance companies once again think they know more than medical personnel.

The newly built hospital is all curves, chrome, and glass -- I wanted to catch the sunlight's patterns in this sketch. Level of care here is top quality -- he was treated very well by all.

  1. Oh, Vicky, you captured the sunlight very well! Like it much!
Wish they could help with the pain...

  3. Thank you, Jana! That distant room is a cafeteria, with another huge window-wall looking out to a lovely garden. Very peaceful!

Bill's pain is much less today. It's just frustrating that this will only last about a month, at which time he will go back for the longer-lasting procedure that he should have had now. But then, the Lord just may heal him before another procedure is needed. Waiting in hope . . .

  4. I will keep your husband in prayer, Vicky.

Your perspective is spot on; great illustration! I really love it.

I'm going in for a hysterectomy myself this Tuesday. Thankfully I'll only be in the hospital one day!

    1. Sorry to hear that! --- I'm praying for you already and will remember you on Tuesday especially. Amazing how short the hospital stays are now. And thanks for praying for Bill.

    3. Good idea. It should help you stay calm and helps you to hear God speaking to your spirit. I know He will be right there with you.

  5. So sorry to learn of Bill's recent issues. Hope this shot will provide enough relief until he can have the long-lasting procedure!
I have been a bit absent on Flickr the past few weeks with health issues and going to Barcelona. But, I don't believe you have posted there in quite a while? I miss seeing your posts and keeping up with you! I try to check in on a few blogs occasionally, but just find it so much easier/faster to keep up with everybody and their sketches on Flickr.

    1. Thanks, Debo. So far, so good, though he's a bit sore at the moment -- playing around with a granddaughter visiting from Texas.

I deleted my Flickr account a few months after posting a notice there letting followers know they can find me at my blog. I just cannot work with the massive changes -- waiting for photos to load with all that "flashing" gave me a headache.

I actually am glad to be done with Flickr, though I really miss their OLD version. Cutting down to only my blog (with the group blogs I'm also in) and posting on Facebook (where so many artists / sketchers are now posting) has simplified my life. More time for sketching and reading!

  6. So sorry to hear about Bill's back issues.. been suffering from back pain for about 6 years now. I went thru the shots the first year, but for me they only brought full relief for about 48 hours, so Bill is very fortunate that they last that long for him and that he is a candidate for surgery to correct his problem.
I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

    1. Prayers are much appreciated! I'm sorry to hear that you are still suffering from back pain. Bill is blessed to get some relief and to have hope of more relief in the future.
