Yesterday we spent some time with our grandson, Quen, who has Crohn’s disease. He went home from a recent surgery only to end up back in the hospital fighting an extra tough infection. I drew this mess of equipment, missing a tube or three, as Q snoozed. Easier than drawing him.
sending hugs! this is very hard!
ReplyDeleteHugs received and appreciated! It is harder seeing our grandson go through colon issues than it was going through colon-rectal cancer myself.
DeleteThey think they are finally defeating the infection now. Quen’s friends visit him often and even got him to walk to the hospital’s garden with them. I gave him a journal, fountain pen and pocket palette — hopefully he will be able to work through his feelings with them.
hope he is doing better. So glad he got sketching equipment from you - gotta start them young! :)
DeleteQuen just turned 18 but he’s sketched a bit since he was tiny. When I made him a vintage-looking teddy bear when he was 6, it came with its own tiny sketchbook that Q filled.
DeleteApparently dogs can be trained to detect Crohn’s flair ups — Q will be taking a dog with him when he begins college in autumn.
