Texas wildflowers

Texas wildflowers were so amazing this past spring! Though I wasn’t able to get out among them in person, I enjoyed the vast views on our drives to and from College Station. And my dear friend, A., sent me plenty of incredible photographs taken on her property.

  1. So beautiful! The flowers and your sketch! I understand about not being able to get out in the fields. I generally can only view things like that from my car due to a messed up back. I see nature from the car and then look it up online to get the close up views and info about each item, flora or fauna. Works for me!

    1. That's why I don't believe in "rules" in sketching! Whatever works for us to get the sketch we need. I often sketch from photos I take rather than from life -- some sketching groups berate that but who cares!

  2. Love seeing so many different flowers, ones we do not see in the northeast. Thank you for sharing. I stay out of the sun so pictures are taking and I paint from them. Unless of course the flowers are mine and I bring a few in to paint. Continued prayers for you.

    1. I was blown away by the wildflowers when we moved to Texas from Kansas 9 years ago. Kansas wildflowers were subtle, grass-like, blowing in the constant spring and summer wind. But in the central part of Texas you can literally see splashes of color every month of the year! Bluebonnets get the most attention but my favorite displays include a mixed variety. This first springtime show of color is followed by yellow coreopsis, pink primrose, sunflowers, various lavender flowers, and brilliant white prickly poppy.
Thank you for your prayers -- they are very much appreciated!
