peach blossoms

A couple of weeks ago I snapped photos of trees in our front pasture while out with our corgi, Butters. But I didn’t get around to sketching from one until today. This is the baby peach tree’s blossoms; I was too late to get shots of the apple trees.

  1. Your work is beautiful , I’d love to know what sort of pen you use , I’ve tried an ink pen but the ink isn’t permanent and spoils if it gets wet .

    1. Thank you! I have a small collection of fountain pens; the one in the photo is a Sailor Fude De Mannen from Jet Pens. The other pens I grab most often are Kaweco Sport brass pen, Kaweco Liliput pens, and Lamy Safari pens. I have loved fountain pens for all purposes (even crossword puzzles!) since I used one in high school, just to be old-fashioned.

My favorite waterproof inks are De Atramentis Document inks and Rohrer & Klingner Sketch Ink, both made specifically for fountain pens. Most pens use refillable converters, or I refill a used cartridge using a pen syringe. The Kaweco pens mentioned take the smaller short cartridges — De Atramentis sells them already filled with waterproof Document inks.
