bits of last week

Just some bits of nothing much sketched in my journal . . .

My vision has been a bit fuzzy lately. I have glaucoma and early macular degeneration, for which I am under treatment and have regular checkups. I was relieved at last week’s check that the slightly out-of-focus fuzziness was part of the seasonal allergies I’ve been going through. Very irritated dry eyes (which sounds weird when my eyes water so much!) and lots of oak tree pollen. Hot compresses and extra eye drops, including one for allergies — simple fix!

I also played around with new palette arrangements, just for fun. And tried out my new Kaweco Brass Sport fountain pen. As reliable as my beloved Liliputs but slightly chunky and heavier, better for benign tremor shaky hands.

  1. I love your work is beautiful, you draw similar things to mine in my journal , it’s my diary . Please can I ask what sort of ink you use and does it bleed if it gets wet . I tried a fountain pen but when I used water on the following page it effected the previous pages work done with a fountain pen .

    1. My sketchbooks are more like diaries as well, just capturing simple bits and memories of my days. Best use for sketchbooks❣️
Most of the time I use De Atramentis Document inks which are water-proof / water-resistant, allowing watercolor or gouache to be painted over the dry ink lines without them bleeding. Using a better quality paper also helps in preventing bleed-through. My sketchbooks are watercolor paper so they can easily handle wet inks or watercolors.
