Stonehenge in danger?

Yesterday I read an article online that told of a proposal to build a tunnel under Stonehenge --- to divert traffic away from the ancient monument! Does this make any sense? Wouldn't that compromise the very foundation ground it is built upon? Not to mention destroy the area archiologists have been studying of the earliest residents of Britain.

  1. The stone came out beautifully! The paper mid-tone works nicely. From an engineering perspective I think the tunnel could be done safely. Sounds like an expensive solution to too much surface traffic, though.

  2. I figured that there probably is sound engineering thought behind this idea. But from a non-engineer mind, I picture the problems associated with fracking, sink holes, etc. And it sounds like the traffic problems would remain --- there's simply too many who want to see the stones.
