moving right along . . .

The 12 days of Christmas are drawing to a close and so is our time in Kansas. Again we have run out of boxes to put things in, but almost everything is now boxed up. This wee nativity and the family stockings were the only decorations we had out this year . . . plus a couple of containers of toys for grandkids to play with. While packing, I came across this tiny micro-machine vehicle that missed being packed with the toys. So I sketched it with the nativity and packed both in the Christmas box.

  1. wow..slowly getting there. I have checked to see how you are doing but got sick and just didn't have enough energy to do any commenting or blogging.. but saw you have been sketching things you will leave behind. good idea. When is the big move? I hope it all goes smoothly.

    1. Chris, I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. I know what you mean about lack of energy . . . . I'm currently fighting a head & chest cold myself. Billy has been doing most of the latest round of packing.
We head to Texas the end of this week to close on the cabin, then back to Kansas for the final stuff (closing bank accts, insurance policies, etc) --- our old plumbing shop sold this past week and we close on that the 30th. Movers come the next day, then we leave for our new home.

    1. I am so thankful for your presence on the internet! I can read up on your daily posts and feel like I'm right there with you. Makes the parting less weepy for me.
Right now I'm fighting a head / chest cold. My coughing was disturbing Billy and keeping myself awake . . . . so I got up to read or check email.
Our old plumbing shop (Bill's woodshop) just sold, praise God! So we won't need to borrow money to pay the movers and he will have the money to go ahead and build his new woodshop. Verra thankful!!!
I'm still slowly working through the book you sent, and have journaled a small bit each morning. I ended up using a separate bit of paper instead of my artist's journal. I had a block of paper that was cut out of a purchased journal so it could be rebound with WC paper. Eventually, I'll make a cover for it.
As I told Chris above, we are off to close on the cabin the end of this week. Lots of details to take care of in Brenham. Then back here until the movers come on the 31st.
Stay well and safe, dear friend!

    1. So I suppose that means you won't consider moving back to Texas? . . . . BIG bummer!

  4. I moved to Charleston 16 years ago… other than the years I lived with my Mom and Dad, I've never lived anywhere else this long… and… I have no desire to move ever again… Good luck with the move, sounds like everything has worked out for you two.

  5. There was a time, after Bill was discharged from the Navy, that we thought we'd live in Kansas forever. Certainly never thought of Texas --- all we'd seen of Texas was the lonely looking panhandle.
But when one of our kids, then another, then a third settled there . . . Now all four of them live there, and all five grandchildren born there. Funny how life leads us in unexpected directions.
